Bastaaaa! Enough already! Im sorry for Venice, but I can no - TopicsExpress

Bastaaaa! Enough already! Im sorry for Venice, but I can no longer remain silent and endure the arrogance, corruption and cowardice of the scoundrels that govern it. After nearly thirty years of hard work and sacrifice in the management of my business, now known to all Venetians and many travelers to Venice, Pizzeria 900 Jazz, I received yet another low blow by the Municipality of Venice: One week ago, a team of eleven people (four officers, six workers and an architect) with scaffolding and various tools, removed the advertising signs of my restaurant because they are considered illegal (in 1987, when I took over the restaurant, the same signs were already installed for some time ). For years I tried to get the legal permission for my new signs, with professional assistance, but the outcome was always negative. The seemingly absurd situation has reached epidemic proportions in many areas of daily life of the Venetian, in the fact that all these years I had to pay taxes at the request of the City on the use of public space, which increased 200% because of all the illegal signage and violations of many business in the city. Why wasn’t a solution found that could allow me to work honestly and make the pizzeria visible to the throngs of tourists who now use only the main streets where there are virtually no more shops, restaurants and bars operated by the Venetians? I wonder why I am so outraged with my own business when the city is in a state of decay and general indifference, when illegal signage is everywhere in the city, one must just lift his eyes for a moment, for example in Campo San Bartolomeo to see prohibited neon signs, turn around and see bright red lanterns or run into man-sized menus in Ruga Rialto, signs and flags (forbidden) anywhere in Venice, not to mention the invasion of hawkers of illegal handbags, sunglasses and other trinket objects laid on the streets and bridges. This is the reason I feel no pride or passion for my city with this government, that has abandoned its people. I am compelled to report these facts and publish them on the official facebook page of JAZZ 900 where thousands of followers among the members, world-renowned artists, driven by the passion of jazz that came to the 900 Jazz Club, musical associations , organizers of world festivals, record labels, newspapers from various countries discussing musical events etc. All of these people continue to ask me why I dont organize more concerts, and this is the reason.
