Batman: Dead End (premiere on 19th of July 2003 on Comic-Con in San Diego) is a wonderful example of how to make a film with minor finances, which will be remembered and the fans will continue to go back to it often in discussions and for pleasure undoubtedly. Joker has yet again escaped from the Arkham Asylum. Batman has to put him back in there. Once, and for all. It turns out that the biggest and the oldest enemy of the Dark Knight isnt his greatest problem... Action of this 8-minute film is set in a dark, flooded with rain alley. Delighting to me are the music and the climate, which makes you have gooseflesh. A big thing in the scenes are brilliant costumes. Well, the author of this movie was also the author of character appearance from Predator 2, Men in Black, “A Nightmare on Elm Street” and Raven. How is it possible to give our bat comics features? Burtons Batman used to wear an outfit made of centimeter-thick elastic. The stiffness and heaviness of this suit made it impossible for the actor to move normally, which is visible on some of the scenes, especially when Michael Keaton bends his body to look up. How would this make a viewer believe that such a thick-skinned dressed hero can be at the same time agile, fast and unbeatable in battle? Secondarily outfits of heroes in nowadays productions are perfect in their looks, quality and making. But thats till... Batman: Dead End was made. This remaining beyond official films, 8-minute fan film became the missing piece in the field of superheroes outfits. Here Batman is wearing an outfit made from a fabric (not a thick elastic) and a light, black cape and also a mask, which reacts to facial gestures. We see precisely the moment when Bruce Wayne is dresses up his kit: mask, gloves and a cape - all without rapid camera movement or shooting tricks. Now Batman moves without awkwardness and is closest to his comics original. We can believe that this very costume was house-made, not in a factory of rubber extravagant clothes for superheroes! Also Batmans eyes are closer to comics idea (Burtons Batman had a mask that made it possible to see his eyes), obscured by white lenses. This costume doesnt amuse, it arouses respect for the film makers for originality, braveness, creativity and a faithful reproduction of a comics character. A scene, where Batman jumps off to the ground in the pouring rain, dragging a wet cape as he stands up - it simply leaves behind many scenes you could see in cinema Batman! Likewise Joker in Batman Dead End is a nearly 100% accurate to what he looks like in the comics. Characterization of Jack Nicholson remains far behind. Finally this what happens after the fight between Batman and Joker makes this produced with own resources by a group of enthusiasts movie, worthy of a tremendous appreciation! The fight between Batman and Joker, appearance of Alien, which rushes towards Batman and their confrontation. Ultimately the emergence of Predator. Everything polished both in terms of characterization, special effects, choreography, montage and images. Its hard to believe that this project didnt include neither Stan Winston nor IndustrialLight&Magic. Whole movie gives the impression like it was made by professionals. It would be perfect as a trailer for Batman vs Alien vs Predator if that one would ever be made. The musical themes (in original) from films Aliens, Alien 3 and Predator were also used. I found a substantial defect of the film - 8 minutes is too short.^^ https://youtube/watch?v=MOB13T6Zmh8
