Batswana youth are not desperate for change for the better but - TopicsExpress

Batswana youth are not desperate for change for the better but rather hopeless and desperate that they are ready to settle for anything the government offer them without demanding more or better let alone hold the leadership accountable to deliver their promises, unfortunately poverty is finally a normal thing we have accepted it and are content with it to the extent that we even think the government is doing us a favour by providing education, health care, and jobs, we even never dream of being able to pay our childrens tertiary education or afford better health care, Re setse re ineeletse dikoloi tsa maJapan hela jaanong we dont think we deserve a brand new car. Ba re kgaeditse ka dilo tsa mophako we only think its only enough that the government can provide us freebies like Father Christmas rather than empowering us to be able to provide for ourselves and not be dependent on the government on the future. We are being tricked to believe the unemployment rate is decreasing yet there is evidence of hidden unemployment since interns, temporary workers on less than 2 years contracts and ipelegeng workers are considered as employed when manipulating the unemployment rates, the internship program also continue to exploit them as a source of cheap labour while some are even doing work that is not in line with their profession hence that 2 years still equal no experience at all but we still fail to ask what does the future hold for us after internship, being a temporary teacher for 2 years is enough evidence that there is shortage of teachers and that posts are available, some private tertiary schools owned by our leaders and foreigners who dine and wine with them offer us un-credited Dibonzi and Mabudula courses yet those who demand quality education are considered as undisciplined and trouble markers worse still by our own parents and fellow students and sometimes suspended or expelled from school. We see in South Africa the ANC Youth League is vocal and vibrant advocating for the empowerment and development of the youth putting the interest of the people before the parties political interest, we have here in Botswana people who before you can even say Jack Daniels are quick to defend their leaders in expense of defending their future. We are now forced to raid the streets and demand answers and hold our government accountable; if you voted them yet you are scared they will shoot you when you demand whats yours then you are in love with a beautiful monster, People should not fear or be afraid of their government but it is the government should be afraid and fear its people, this probably cant be the promised land; we cant lose hope there is something better than this. Lastly i hope those who resist change will be able to drink whatever they are brewing with this government and i can assure you that it wont taste nice like namaqua sweet rose...
