TheWeatherSpace has issued TWS Severe Thunderstorm Watch 66 Effective early Thursday morning through the afternoon Issued Aug 21, 2013 – 7:45 p.m. PDT Source: theweatherspace/2013/08/22/tws-severe-thunderstorm-watch-66/ Thunderstorms over Northern California and Nevada are curving northwest toward Southern Oregon, and this will bring a surge of outflow into the area. This, with the upper level low’s upper divergence and vorticity advection setting in will spark thunderstorms in Southern Oregon overnight tonight, but the increase in activity will be expected on Thursday morning, early, before sunrise … spreading northward over the morning/afternoon hours through the entire box. Residents who live along I-5 should be aware that severe storms, with damaging winds, hail, and frequent lightning may be possible. These storms will weaken before hitting Portland, thus just south of there is where I’m taking the watch box … although thunderstorms will be possible in Portland, the severe criteria may not be met … KMartin
