Be Careful What You Wish For... After a relatively quiet summer - TopicsExpress

Be Careful What You Wish For... After a relatively quiet summer I was ready for some serious adventure this month. Jeff suggested to do arguably the most beautiful section of the John Muir Trail with Paiute and Bishop Pass added for a non-stop 56 miles of rugged wilderness, and all in one day (backpackers usually take 4 to 7 days). The JMT Evolution Loop has to be one of the most gorgeous ultra runs/hikes in the US. Our anticipated ~20 hour run/speed hike turned into a full blown 27 hours of one breathtaking sensory experience after another. The sights, the sounds, the smells, the great stories on the trail, the sore feet, the soaring sun, the gaspin in the aspen, the drinking from creeks, the Trees, the waterfalls, the mountain rescue we witnessed, and so many more experiences that will have to wait for a more extensive report. We made it back safely, grateful and exhausted. By tomorrow I might be ready for the next adventure!
