Be Kind To Everyone And be ye kind one to another, - TopicsExpress

Be Kind To Everyone And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christs sake hath forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32 George W. Truett was the dynamic pastor of the large First Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas. Few know the history behind his famous quote: Be kind to everyone, because everyone is having a tough time. Truett was on a hunting trip with a number of friends when his gun accidentally discharged and wounded his closest friend, the chief of police. Pastor Truett pleaded with God privately and beseeched his congregation to pray for the officers recovery, while apologizing profusely to the family. Shortly after, his closest friend died due to the tragedy. Dr. Truett went into deep depression and despair. He told his wife he would never preach or pastor again. After weeks of weeping, confession and defeat, God spoke to him in a very personal manner these words; You are now my man. It changed his life. Gone was any hardness, pride or criticism of others. He pastored with great success and a tender heart for many more years. It is so easy to criticize and judge others motives, even when they make small effort to do right. It is easy to think them not real or that they do not care or understand. Paul instructed the folks at Ephesus to be kind and forgiving like God was in forgiving them. Let us be kind and forgiving to all, like Christ forgave us! Let us put away a proud and unforgiving spirit. - C. S. Source : Baptist Bread October 31, 2014
