Be Not Afraid, Only Believe! Mark 5:36, KJV {5:36} As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe. God’s government is one of peace. (Isaiah 9:7) That means that whatever causes offense, shame, guilt, dis-ease, disgrace, curse and the like, Jesus has already removed, and God Himself through the Holy Spirit is working to enforce grace in your life today. The essence of believing correctly as Christians is to know that God loves you, and is not out to get you, that is punish you. Isaiah 54:9b says, “So have I sworn that I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you.” 2 Corinthians 5:19 says, “To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.” God has already imputed all the sins of the world onto Jesus. We are to reach out to people in grace, showing them the Cross, where God’s love for them was fully displayed. Sometimes people read the phrase “Be not afraid, only believe” in Mark 5:36 and say that you must never have any fear, or else God will not work on your behalf. Some Bible translations even replace “Be not afraid” with “Have no fear” (BBE) and things to this regard. However I don’t believe this is what this verse is saying. Recently I got a revelation on this verse. You see, certain folks had come from Jairus’ house saying, “Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?” (Mark 5:35) It is to this that Jesus responded. They said, “Thy daughter is dead, and why throublest thou the Master any further?” Jesus said, “Be not afraid, only believe.” This is what I believe Jesus is saying, “Don’t be troubled that you daughter is dead, only believe that I can raise her up.” You see, Jesus was not saying, “Don’t have any doubts” He was saying, “It’s ok if you have doubts, because you have come to Me, I will heal your doubts, help you unbelief and grant unto you My faith.” I asked God once, “Why do you always say unto people, ‘Be not afraid’?” He did it even before healing them. Be not afraid and your sins are forgiven are the two most frequent words of Jesus to those who come to Him for help. This is what they Holy Spirit said to me, “Because it relaxes the heart, and puts them at rest!” And why is that important? Because rest is so important to you receiving health, healing, and breakthrough from God. Most of our problems are as a result of our wrong beliefs, not having the word as the foundation of our hearts and the realization that Jesus has already finished everything. Resting in Jesus and His finished work is all the solution we need. Jesus is saying to you today, “Be not afraid, only believe!” Be not afraid is a creative word, which when you accept, creates rest in you. Despite your doubts, feeling of inadequacy, and whatever else you think disqualifies you from receiving from God, to these things Jesus is saying, “Be not afraid, only believe!” Be not afraid anymore, nothing can separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus. That means every blessing will come to you simply because you have turn to Jesus for help. Amen! Shalom!
