Be human took funny twists with me yesterday. On a flight from Jaipur to Delhi I met a gem of a boy who genuinely and meticulously took care of his grandparents, ensuring they were safe, warm, comfortable on the flight. I was so impressed by this 24 -25 year old boy that I went up and told him so. Then on a flight from Delhi to Bangalore I met this beautiful elderly lady, the widow of a Chairperson of one of Indias most prestigious oil exploration firms, whose loneliness was compounded by the fact that her 3 children rarely kept in touch and had left her completely alone to fend for herself. Irony : The first person I met is the grandson of India;s leading jeweler who designs for the likes of the Ambanis, Mittals & Birlas. The son of the abandoned lady is the CEO of America;s largest Life Insurance company. Proved to me that the true gem is the one that has the heart ( inspite of having all the money in the world, he could have theoretically have been the brat) and the one that sold life insurance, ( theoretically should have been more humbled by life )couldnt even value the life of the one that gave him life. Please take this moment to reach out to your parents, grandparents : and let them know you care and are there for them.
