Bearing the Truth! 1I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: 2Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 5But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. (2nd Timothy 4:1-5) The apostle Paul is telling Timothy that Judgment is coming, and that He must preach the word. He says, “Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.” (Vs 2) It makes no difference where you are, what time it is, or the season, but we must convince, rebuke, exhort, and not leave people ignorant of what is coming. He wants Timothy and us to argue for Christ, and against sin. He commands that we rebuke, forbidding them to sin. And then we must encourage them to live a right life based on the truth of Yahweh’s word. He says that we must not give up but continue in longsuffering. We may come to the place where we may think that we’re not making any progress, or that folks are not listening, or we may be getting some resistance, or being treated badly, but we must not give up. Teach the word, help them to understand the whole truth just as a math teacher teaches math, and teach the word of Yahweh. There’s a good reason for doing this, especially now. He tells us, For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;” (Vs 3) that time is now. Anyone going to church these days expecting to hear the truth of the word of Yahweh will be sadly disappointed. They will go away wondering what they missed, just as I did. So for that reason I will go out on the street today and preach the word of Yahweh, as it has been given to me. This is what I am being called to do, and I believe I’m not the only one. I have heard a lot of street preachers, but never one who preaches the Hebraic point of view. Paul says, “and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.” (Vs 4) and this too has already made itself evident. We hear a gospel of grace being preach without the Law, nothing but pure fiction from your local pulpit. And seminaries are spitting out this kind of preacher as fast as they can. How is it possible that we can lead anyone to Christ without the Commandments? And how can we remain in Christ without obedience to His Commandments? It’s just not possible, nor is it Biblical, therefore this is a fable just as Paul says. The he tells us, “But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” (Vs 5) Tend to the business of your calling, endure afflictions, you can be sure that there will be those, especially at the hands of those who believe the lies. Do the work of an evangelist; a preacher of the gospel is as good a definition of evangelist as any. I have so many friends that know the same things about the word as I do. But are they willing to go out on the street and preach it? I think not! But I would be happy to know that this is not so. Join me in my craziness, preach the truth to those who are totally unaware that there is a truth. Today’s Affirmation: Today, I am the repository of the truth of Yahweh’s word, to whom will I tell it, can I not shout it from the rooftops? Prayer: Father Yahweh, keep me focused on the truth of Your word Abba. strengthen me to go and preach the truth in Your holy name. In the holy name of Christ Y’shua, my Savior, I pray. AMEN!
