Beau Eastman, Our Very Own Wildlife Whisperer at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary Beau Eastman has been a part of our National Trust of Queensland Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary family for just under a year, and in that short time he’s managed to capture the heart of both our animals and our visitors. Beau works alongside some amazing animals including dingoes, snakes, salt water crocodiles and lizards and he often mingles with the lorikeets at our daily world famous feeding. Beau regularly presents the Dr. Doo-Lots Show, the Australiana Sheep Shearing Show and is working toward his ultimate goal of presenting the Air Asia Free Flight Bird Show. Beau loves learning about our magnificent birds by working with the senior trainers and getting to know the collection on a personal level. We are one of the few places in Queensland that you can stand beside a Wedge-Tailed Eagle and have the opportunity to have your photo taken. “I love working with the entire animal collection but of course, I have my favourite and currently that is Brad our beautiful Brahminy Kite! “ Beau said. Originally from the Sunshine Coast, Beau recently moved to the Gold Coast in search of adventure - new waves to surf and new animals to meet and love. He has since found his calling here at Currumbin, saying he loves spending time with the animals and having the opportunity to educate visitors in such a personal and interactive environment. “It’s not a huge crowd in a huge auditorium, it is quite an intimate experience especially in the bird show when the birds fly directly over the audience. We offer more of a personal experience that our visitors just love and that’s why I love working here!” With qualifications in filmmaking and a passion for the beach, Beau spends his spare time traveling the world surfing and producing documentaries to create awareness of issues in third world countries. “I want to spread the positive energy around by treating others with respect and always helping others to be the best they can” Beau said. Beau received Best Film and Best Director awards for a documentary he produced titled “Our Guru of Surfing”. The documentary shared the life of his brother Joel, and his courageous journey living with Multiple Sclerosis.
