Beautiful Border Collie needs our help!!! Lisa Oliver with Columbus Pet Rescue asked if we could help this person as they are full. Lisa helps us all the time so we really need to step up and help this poor dog. The Story: Maggie adopted Eli from a high kill dog shelter right before he was to be put down. She has a child and cat he gets along WONDERFULLY with. She goes to college and has a full time job so she cannot spend much time with Eli. Eli is a 2 year old border collie. He is neutered and up to date on all of his shots and is on a worm, and flea preventative. He is great with cats, other dogs and children. His favorite treats are the biggest plain rawhide bones that petsmart has to offer. He does great with grooming. He doesnt mind being brushed, gets into the bathtub, and even lets you clip his nails and blow dry him with no tantrums. He knows the commands sit, stay, come, down, shake, up up (jumps up), off (jumps down), place (goes to his bed), inside (runs to back door), and is eager and willing to learn more! He loads into the car fine with a little reassurance. He is low energy and high affection. He doesnt play much but he loves hugs and kisses. He was just at the vet in August and is in good health. He is not food aggressive and does not get possessive of treats. Eli has a bit of anxiety where he will pull his own hair out. Maggie admits that she has probably made him worse. She thinks that if he has a home with an alfa dog to follow and a person who can spend time with him he would be much better. Eli is crate trained with no problems, not a big barker. The self abuse is his thing. He was probably beaten with a leash at some point in his life and is terrified of being on a leash. He will not potty on a leash but is great with a back yard. Eli does not try to get out of back yard at all, he does NOT want to go for walks though. Maybe pack walks would make him happier about it?
