Beauty in Aruba: Shoco protection! During the parliamentary session of September 23rd, 2014, the Shoco was declared a National Symbol by law. However, some extra icing was added to the cake when a motion – Motie # 2/OV # 18/OLV # 757 – was presented by the AVP and carried unanimously by the 18 MP’s who attended, which urges the Government of Aruba to protect the Shoco, its nests and terrains and to have this done via a so called LB-Ham pertaining to the ‘Natuurbeschermingsverordening’ (translation ‘Nature Protection Law’). Aruba Birdlife Conservation thanks one and all who helped getting this done! I am adding the entire motion here. And yes … you can help protect our Shoco. Masha pabien Aruba!!
