Because its Friday and were feeling the Christmas spirit we thought wed show you how we made the bench bird feeders and hopefully youll make one for yourselves or as a really cool Christmas present. All you need is: 1x 12mm balsa wood sheet 1x 1m string 1x 100mm string 1x pack of tacks 1x 240mmx100mm masonite board (can be replaced by any board) 1x 24mm 16mm dowel Super glue Stanley Knife Drill 1. Print design. 2. Using your craft knife cut all your strips to the sizes on the design. 3. Stick down the support edges on the edge of your masonite board followed up by sticking the planks on top edging. (Make side the sides stick over by 20mm where you can attach your back board.) 4. Construct the back board by sticking the planks to the 2 struts as seen in the design. (The struts should stick our by 20mm on here too so you can attach to the base.) 5. Construct the arms as per the design. 6. Use the arms as a guide to work out the angle youd like the back rest. (Dont glue the arms in place). 7. Glue the back rest to the base and then glue the arms in place. 8. Glue the arms in place. (If cut correctly they should fit tightly between the planks.) 9. Push tacks in where the planks are glued to the supports. 10. Drill 2 holes in the front base (as seen in the photos) and drill 2 holes through where the back board is joined to the base. Drill 2 holes 1cm from either side of the dowel and then one through the middle of the dowel vertically in relation to the 2 other holes drilled. 11. Tie one end of the meter string and proceed to thread it through the front hole from the inside, up through the right hand side of the dowel and down through the back right hand hole. Then thread it through the back left hole and then up through the left hole in the dowel. Finally thread the string through the front left hole and tie it off on the inside. 12. Tie one end of your 100mm string and thread it through the middle hole of the dowel, finish it off by tying the last end of with a loop. 13. Finish off your bench bird feeder by applying a coat of Woodoc 50 marine sealer for the best result.
