Because of all of our posts, I know that we are a group that loves their history and I imagine, it goes deeper than just Southie. I will apologize ahead of time for the long post and for hunting for business, but need feedback before, possibly, a friend and I start this. Seriously thinking about starting a genealogy business. Most people, dont know where to start, dont have the time or wont pay the fees. All I need to get going are Mother/Father and grandparents (maiden names are a great help ) - for the younger crowd, it gets harder, because census records are only released every 72 years and the 1940 census just came out in 2012. Anyways, was wondering what people would pay for a fee, if they were interested. My fathers side of the family, many came in through what was the Virginia territory ( NJ now ) and ended up in AL. They were the first settlers in the south and started Blount Co., AL. The pic below is a picture of the program I use and going back from my dad, 4 more generations. What would I give back, a CD which will include any birth, marriage and census records I can find. I will provide a GEDCOM file, which is a file, that gives you all of your information in a format that you can look at in most genealogy programs. I can also provide an Adobe PDF file or for a fee a book. I want to try to keep everything digital, but realize some people will want something they can look at, that is not on a computer.
