Because of an interesting (and sometimes traumatic history) I often wonder about the excuses people make for those they know. What bond or concession makes unsavory or abusive behavior acceptable? Where is that line of protecting your loved one(s)/ excusing peoples behavior/ being forgiving? How or when does this change when the toxic people are those you know or have history with? Im struggling with this on a few levels.
