Because of the movie, everyone now knows Groot, Drax, Rocket, Starlord, etc and thats pretty cool. But what about some of the Guardians lesser known members? I present to you Jack Flagg. Originally, a Captain America legacy character, Jack Flagg didnt have much to work with except for a bit of super strength, top notch human reflexes/athletism, and a big charisma. How he ended up with the Guardians: As you can tell, the 2008 edition of Guardians (the one the movie was based on) was known to upgrade and bring interest back into Z list characters. I.E.: Originally, Groot had showed up in one comic beforehand decades ago as a Thor villain. Rocket and Starlord both had minis in the 80s that went nowhere. Flagg, just like the others had tiny exposure, specifically a short stint in some cap books. He wasnt heard from much after. Not until post Civil War MU when he became an unregistered. The then villainess Thunderbolts went after him and placed him under custody, but not before giving him a brutal beating that left him paralyzed. After this, he was shipped off into the Negative Zone prison, 42. Enter 2008, issue 8 of the Guardians. After a run in with Ronan, Star Lord gets dumped into the negative zone. He ends up meeting Jack Flagg and they bond quickly due to their terran backgrounds. Flagg decides to stick with SL, instantly becomes cured of his paralyses thanks to KNOWHERE tech, and quickly becomes an integral member of the Guardians. All this, even though Flagg is extremely creeped out, overwhelmed and constantly mind blown by cosmic events. His greatest quote from the series is I hate this cosmic $#!%. But even though he was comedic relief, Jack was majorly epic, on the scales of Han Solo. He is also the only other Guardians member with a bad ass atmosphere mask, like the one seen in the movie.
