Because of the recent events with Winfield and the calf roping, I want to make sure that the calf ropers know they will NOT have to pay a turn out fee. If you decide that you dont want to go to the rodeo, because of points not counting towards year end, you will NOT pay a turn out fee!! I would also like to extend an apology, on behalf of the CARA assoc board of directors because of this. I would like everyone to know, that we were totally blind sided by this decision of the Winfield committee. So we were not sure how to handle it. To try and make it fair to all the competitors that had competed all year, we made the decision to have the points not count towards the year end. Winfield will not budge on their decision!! It has definitely brought a few things to light, and we will have to discuss this further at our Annual General Meeting. With that being said, we need the members to come and voice their opinions!!!!! There cant/wont be change if the board of directors dont know there is problem. Same goes for the entry system, posting the draw, the late payouts, etc. The association has definitely grown over the years, and I believe there is some room for improvement. Me being the secretary, am only 1 person, so I need your help to make a few changes to make my life easier too. I get a lot of questions, that I cant answer because I dont have the information!! I really hope that this issue with Winfield doesnt deter existing members from not joining next year. It will definitely be re-evaluated, and dealt with....good or bad. We need these young kids to keep coming up the ranks, so the future of Canadian rodeo stays strong!! They have to start somewhere, so why not the CARA association.
