From vacuuming the floor, washing clothes, chopping food, mixing a cake, beating an egg, changing the TV or even turning the lights off. Move more See movement as an opportunity.... we all know the benefits activity provides us with; weight management, reduces stress, increases cardiovascular endurance, improves self esteem, the list goes on. So find ways in life that will help you move more and appreciate the chance to move and get up and do it. Take the stairs, walk the dog, clean the house, chase the kids, get up and walk a lap of the house during an ad break, cycle to work etc anything that is helping you stay active during the day. If you are already training daily your on the right track, for those that arent so motivated, start slow and build up to it, make a plan of days and times your going to train and stick to it, it takes 3-4 weeks of following a training schedule before it becomes a routine or habit, persist with it and once you start you feeling the benefits you wont stop. Dont see movement as a hinderance but embrace it as an opportunity to improve your health. 2. Fidget Fun We all did it as a kid, we fidgeted, our parents would say sit still, be quiet, go over there and stop being a pain, will you stop that, well to be honest that fidgeting is a secret to staying active. Tap your feet, click your fingers, wriggle your hips, sit down, stand up, sit down, stand up. There are so many ways we can fidget and guess what it is creating activity, it is movement, it is helping our metabolism. So as long as the person next to you isnt going to have a mental break down because your tapping your pen, then start fidgeting during the day to improve your activity levels. 3. Make more muscle For those that understand this concept, your one step ahead. Improving your bodies muscle mass is proven to improve your bodies metabolic rate and therefore when you are at rest your body is still burning calories in a similar way to when you are active. In order for this to happen, you need to include some form of resistance training into your weekly routine. 30 min of moderate to high intensity resistance training 2-3 times a week will start to influence your caloric expenditure and therefore assist you to metabolise when at rest, this is an important element of weight loss and weight management. Making more muscle is a specific process that involves the right training program for you, this can be done at home or in a gym, but i suggest you speak to a professional for some advice on how to start making more muscle. Reap the rewards of resistance training now! 4. Maintain a high metabolism Metabolism consists of hormones and enzymes converting food into fuel; this fuel provides the energy the body needs to do daily tasks like thinking, all the way through to more active tasks like biking or yoga. When your metabolism is working at its peak—such as when youre running at your race pace on a treadmill—you are creating and using energy more efficiently. As your body plows through those calories, youll lose weight faster and streamline your journey to a fitter physique. So how do you keep your metabolism cranking after youve untied your shoes, showered, and settled in at your desk? Its all about those first moments after your workout,The best trick to keep your metabolism high after you work out is eating 20 to 30 grams of protein, preferably whey protein. Protein takes more energy for your body to digest and absorb than other types of food; you may burn 25 percent of the protein calories you consume just by eating. After eating protein your body will stay in overdrive, which means youll process more calories more quickly in the minutes and hours to come. Also, protein helps your body build more muscle, and the more lean body mass you have, the higher your metabolism burns. Whey protein is one of the most easily absorbed types of protein, which is why im such an advocate of the stuff. Try using the four ways described above to maintain a high metabolism and activity level, combining the four aspects as well as regular physical will help you positively improve your overall health.
