Been meaning to share this with you all for a long time. This is (I think, hopefully you can help with ID) a little brown bat that I found collapsed in the wastebasket of a cabin my BF and I rented on Orcas Island, WA. in September. Initially, I thought he was dead. Then I brought him outside, and the smell of the fresh air got him stirring. We were many miles (and a ferry ride) away from any rescue or resources, so I rehydrated him with water from my fingertip, a drop at a time. The turnaround he made just by getting some fluids was remarkable -- he started crawling around like crazy and trying to hang off the edge of the picnic table. We waited with him and got him a little more water, then left him on a low deck railing where he could crawl and hang, and if he lost his grip, he wouldnt fall far. He was gone within 90 minutes. We scoured the premises the next morning, just in case -- but no, hed truly taken flight and made it. It was a very, very special opportunity.
