Been thinking about my father tonight. Ive been watching and listening to programs discussing the upcoming football season & I thought about when I was a kid. I would sit out in the front yard holding my Nerf football, waiting for that Ford Fairlane 500 to come driving up. Our QB had arrived. Dad wasnt a great athlete, and we always laughed about him getting out there in his Bermuda shorts and his dress socks. Dad would QB for both teams and to me, his arm was that of Stabler, Bradshaw or Namath. He coached us in Little League. He drove the boat for us to water ski. Now, watching him STRUGGLE to get out of his chair to walk to the kitchen just kills me. What I wouldnt give to go out and throw the football around or have him hit me some grounders just one more time. Fathers, kids, dont take your relationship for granted.
