Been up in the mountains for nearly three months now. I come down - TopicsExpress

Been up in the mountains for nearly three months now. I come down every two weeks or so to cash my paycheck and gather supplies. Have had three flat tires in as many weeks. Gonna have to inquire about a tire allowance. Life is tough in the wilderness yet extremely gratifying. Awning was torn off by a big wind a week or so ago. Too costly to replace yet neccesary for rain collection. I will find an alternative. My very good friend built a tiny little wood stove to be fitted in the motorhome. Very cool. Looks like something from Captain Nemo. Finally got my CB radio working. Absolutely essential on these steep, one lane mountain roads if you do not want to run head on into a logging truck. Its like Atlanta Air Traffic Control. You need to know where everyone is at and whats coming and going,... Very dangerous. Foggy with smoke in the evening and the morning because they have been burning a lot of slash. Visibility is very poor. Nearly ran into their mainline this morning because I just could not see it. If I had been over it and they picked it up, I would have went with it. That thing would have flipped my jeep right off the mountain, or taken me for a ride, or both. Quite the adventure. The loaded truck behind me did not even know it was there until I radioed it in. Im sure he would have seen it but still,... What if he didnt? Gave me a scare and that driver fair warning. Looking to trade this Jeep in for a 1996 Ford Explorer. Being that I spend a large quantity of my time in the vehicle, that would be a huge improvement on comfort as well as utillity. Internet is minimal if existant at all. Will try to keep you all informed. #HappyThanksgiving. Wish I was there.
