Before I continue, I would like to offer an apology for the stories I had posted about the Higdon Hotel. I have received some backlash on what I had written and I now regret mentioning the ghost stories that I was told and those that I had uncovered recently. It was never my intention to say anything hurtful or possibly untrue about this beautiful location. The truth is, I am not a native of Polk county. I have no idea what the full story of the hotel is because that information is not readily available. And so, I have to mostly rely on the oral history in order to gain a coherent story to share with you all. In the future, I will no longer post about the hotel, but I will focus on other historic structures in the area. I apologize from the bottom of my heart if I had done anything to upset anyone with the ghost stories. :(
