Before I say anything else, I want to start with something - TopicsExpress

Before I say anything else, I want to start with something lighthearted. Congratulations to all who were in the Chamber Music Concert you were all wonderful. Today my school faces a tragedy, its every college parents worst nightmare realized. I didnt know Tyler S. Davis, but his death impacts us all. It always seems that, in my life, these things occur around this time of year. Mike Ellsessar, a classmate of mine who I had known since grade school was lost during a football game after being tackled between heartbeats. His heart stopped, and this world lost a wonderful young man in his sophomore year. Brittany Knowlton, a co-worker, a friend. The girl who always had a smile, always had a flower in her hair, always listened even though she thought my name was Molly. I miss her calling me that. She sang like an angel and touched everyone she knew. She was on the road in a storm and went onto the wrong side of the road to go around fallen debris. She hit ice, lost control, and when she righted herself she was head on with an oncoming minivan. The family made it without harm, Brittanys neck broke she was gone instantly. God took back one of his angels. After Mike and Brittanys deaths, communities came together, as Im sure Saint Bonaventure will. After Mikes death we, my school, helped passed Michaels Law, making it mandatory for AEDs to be present at sporting events. We grew closer as a grade and a school. When Brittany passed a whole town was in tears, but her death inspired people to be overall better. Im not writing all of this so others feel bad for the losses Ive been part of nor am I writing this to be empowering in the light of this more recent loss. I am writing this because all of these could have been prevented. One person can make a difference so please, know the locations of AEDs in your school and public areas, take a second and read the directions so youre not lost if you should ever need one. Dont let your friends drive in dangerous weather, it can wait whatever they are going to is not as important as their lives. And please dont let anyone walk out of a party without someone else. It doesnt matter if you know them or not. Find one of their friends, walk them back and if youre uncomfortable doing that by yourself have a friend come with you. Just dont leave them alone.
