Before I start my Gus story, first a shout out to Lin Goodwin who did this painting of Gus and sent it to me a few years ago. It is a treasure. Gus will, on occasion, show his displease of my leaving him behind when I go to art fairs by ignoring me when I get home and, other times, he will wag his tail so hard, when I get home, that it seems he will shake himself apart. Yesterday, when I returned home it was a major display of his displeasure with me and his Mommy. My Daughter had brought a Christmas toy home for her Mom. Its a plush Snoopy and if you push its belly, it plays a Christmas medley. When Gus saw the plush Snoopy he thought it was his chew toy and really wanted the toy. My wife put it on the credenza but Gus stood staring at it and crying and crying and eventually my wife had to put it totally out of sight. Gus stayed miffed the rest of the evening and when I took him for his last walk last night, he wouldnt come upstairs to the bedroom but climbed up on the couch and laid down. About four Oclock in the morning, Gus came into the bedroom, drank some water from the bowl, we keep in the bedroom, and then sat down by the bed. I got out of bed and hoisted that big fuzzy butt up on to the bed. I guess all was forgiven by then and he wanted to be back with the pack. Of course I couldnt bet back to sleep but Gus slept very well. :)
