Before Im too occupied to commit to anything thoughtful, Ill leave my friends and family in 2014 with this. The first of the year isnt a reset button. The experiences of the past year arent magically discarded at the strike of midnight. Wed never learn or love that way. These past 365 days created the existential infrastructure for the next. When we step through this subjective, arbitrary and purely systemic door into a new year, the same 365 days that weve theoretically left behind, now stand before us. Dont leave 2014 behind you. Apply 2014 to improve upon 2015. Work smarter, love harder, live deeper and, in all things, grow. Grow forward, grow upward, grow further in your own aspirations and grow closer to the things you love. The last 365 have taught me an incalculable amount about my life, my role in others lives, the value of my experiences and the people and world around me. For all my successes and missteps, I will take those lessons and personal sermons into 2015 and hope to grow into a better and brighter me. I wish everyone the same and I thank each and every person whose life mine intersected in the past year for the things you deliberately and inadvertently taught me. Where I am now is much further than where I began 365 days ago and I intend to continue living in such a way that the same and more can be said 365 days from now. Celebrate as you choose, be safe and keep the change. Happy New Year.
