Before Paisleys bath this afternoon, she got her pacing wires taken out and her chest tube bandages removed. We took her leads off and her nasal cannula to wipe her down, and they decided to see how she does without the oxygen tonight... she is SO happy, and I was happy to see the first real smiles I have seen in days. Her oxygen saturations have been in the high 60s without it, and even though they dip into the 50s, they seem to go back to the 60s fairly quickly. I talked with the surgeon this afternoon, and he felt that the 60s would be fine for Paisley given her heart health, and that it could be months before those levels go up. He felt like she should go home tomorrow, where she would be more comfortable and get better more quickly, just coming in daily or every other day for X-rays and such. The cardiac team disagrees and wants to see those levels much higher and more stable before she leaves the hospital. I guess we will find out tomorrow who wins... For now, my girl is happy off of supplemental oxygen , and she is happy.
