Before the 30-day trial ends, I finished the main storyline (so much unnecessary runnings) with a lvl 50 warrior and bumped all field jobs to various levels including a lvl 50 culinarian which ironically is the first one that reached level cap. Being an FF fan for almost 20 years, I really enjoyed all the references from all generations of Final Fantasy, made me recall the old days. Riding a magitek armor in the snowfield is just fascinating (BGM is so bad). The gameplay is engaging, especially to an MMO beginner like me. Theres always something interesting ahead that motivates me to keep moving forward. But somehow I feel the characters are pretty weak, especially lacking of unique personalities. Due to the nature of MMO, the story happens on other people instead of players character, which is fine. But other characters simply dont impress me. The three leaders are basically speech machines. Minfilia has the most significant boobs in the entire game so you remember her, but her characteristic is just flat. Let alone the rest of the Scions. I never get to know who they really are, so in my mind theyre just NPCs with different outfits. I dont know if its too much to ask in an MMO. The main story is kind of FF6+FF12 with many Star Wars looking stuff. Its not really a bad thing to be cliche for an MMO because system balancing is way more crucial than story, but some plots are just unacceptably retarded. How the seventh hell can Cid possibly catch that many bodies with an airship that has a closed top? By the way, therere so many monster models from FFXII being used in XIV. Im sure Yasumi Matsuno wont be a big fan of this. For those of you who dont know him, hes the original director of FFXII but was kicked out by SE half way through, yet ugly enough SE is still using so many of his legacy. I wish hes the director of FFXIV. This guy has the true ability to create a fascinating world. For those of you who saw the word Zodiak at the end of the story, lets see if SE is gonna take the same model from FFXII again...
