Before the floods, Kait Kucy didn’t know anyone in her building - TopicsExpress

Before the floods, Kait Kucy didn’t know anyone in her building in Mission on 19th Avenue. The freelance writer’s apartment was not affected by the floods, but she was evacuated when the Elbow River breached its banks. But she organized the first Mission: Possible, a clothing and housewares drive held June 29 at the Safeway Parking lot. Nearly one year later, Mission: Possible 2 will be held by the Cliff Bungalow-Mission Community Association in the green space north of the community association at 2201 Cliff Street. It will be a celebration by a community that has become closer. “Through Twitter and people trying to find out if their building was OK, I met a ton of my neighbours,” says Kucy. “And I’ll still talk to them now. It definitely brought the neighbourhood closer together. It always felt like a really nice, friendly sort of place. But I think that really pushed people together.” calgaryherald/news/Mission+work+progress+miraculous+recovery/9955303/story.html
