Began to read the Quran, to see how far I could get in the actual - TopicsExpress

Began to read the Quran, to see how far I could get in the actual text before there was something that was indigestible for me. The first verse says Alif Lam Mim ... and not even the Muslims can agree on what that really means. I am skeptical of such incomprehensible stuff, it looks like a cheap literary trick to intimidate and create mystery. But then, in verse two are actually a statement ... which is directly against my faith. This is the book, in it are the sure guidance, no doubt, for those who fear God. I do not fear God ... or the gods. And I would not worship something that scares me. Rather, I fear the absence of the divine, the lack of harmonious unison with the gods. And I think that living in fear of ones God- experience, will make for a terrible human being who just relate frightening to others. Without doubt or self-criticism, for they have the truth and certain directions. Just like the form of Christianity that worship a angrily judiciary old-Testament God and creates followers who themselves are angrily condemning. Or, conversely, it is the angrily dismissive that creates a belief that is so, and it is the timidity that creates a belief that is viciously assertive. Hail to the Nordic gods, who is fighting their own battle ... not to be feared and obeyed blindly by people, but in reality themself to be ... humane ... in a decent and honorable way. As I see it. In this view, I will express my faith and live my life.
