Beginning in April 1994 and for the next 90 days that followed - TopicsExpress

Beginning in April 1994 and for the next 90 days that followed there was a slaughter of approximately 800,000 people in the African country of Rawanda, most people were hacked to death and their are reports of babies that were smashed against walls. The president at the time of the United States was President Bill Clinton and Madeline Albright was the Secretary of State. They deem that there was no strategic interest for which the United States should lift a finger, let along the humanitarian need to act, the United Nation troops in the country actually forced refugees outside their camps of safety to immediate and certain death. The world stood by and watched this genocide as if it were a movie, the only thing missing was the popcorn. Recently it is estimated that approximately 1,400 people was killed in a gas attack by the Assad regime in Syria on its own people, America is now getting ready to bomb the country for the killing of Syrians by their government under the orders of President Obama. My question to America, where is the strategic interest for America in this act since it has had no relations with the Syria for the last 40 yrs, and if the term "shot cross the bow" is actually being shot across the bow of Iran and the inhumane argument is merely a red herring. Is it being done because it was an inhumane act which (I accept) and if so can it be asked that was any less inhumane to be killed 800,000 people though not by poison gas but a similar civil uprising as it is presently in Syria? Why did America just watched as did the rest of the world with nothing said in the case of 800,000 dead in Rwanda?. Is it to be interrupted that because Rwanda was a Sub-Saharan African country it was alright to look the next way because they were all black people? The hypocrisy and ill thought of the undertaking that is being put forth by America in the current situation in Syria will be seen in its fullness when the Jihadist and Salafist along with Al Quaeda, fill the power vacuum cause by the downfall of the current Syrian regime. This will be followed by the slaughter of Alawites and yes Coptic Christians and may ignite a larger regional conflagration. Then what Mr. Obama? Sun Tzu warns against always wanting to go war, he knew why 2500 years ago when he wrote it, the memories of Iraq and Afghanistan have all gone away so quickly it seems..
