Beginning of Rant: Recently, I disconnected my home phone. Why? You ask? Heres the answer: on a daily basis, I receive AT LEAST 3-4 calls from someone trying to get rid of a dog, or wanting me to help them find a new home for their dog or from area high-kill facilities needing help prior to euthanizing. I even received a call lately from an evicting housing authority pleading me to come and evacuate a dog from the home of a evicted tenant. Now...dont get me wrong, I LOVE animals. I have a very soft and kind heart, which has lead me to the rescue I have built since 2011. However, I am very close to closing the doors. It is too overwhelming, depressing, tiring, and stressful to constantly say no. I want to help as many as I possibly can but the daily no, we are too full is so heartbreaking. For me, and for you both. I should be happy that Mollys Mutts has helped so many, but the tons more than we cant help breaks my heart. I feel we, as a county, can step up. Mollys Mutts NEEDS help. We NEED foster homes...we dont ask for months, we ask for a week out of your time to help with a dog. Are all of our dogs potty trained? NO. Do we NEED help potty training dogs? You bet we do. We go through about 50 pounds of dog food every 5-7 days. Do we NEED food? Always. Its cold outside, dont you think? Its supposed to get colder this week. We would LOVE to have warm beds for our dogs. We do our best to walk them, feed them, and keep them warm during cold times, but Jessica Prather Graham and I NEED help. If you cant financially afford to donate, donate your time. We always need dog walkers, dog bathers and unfortunately poop doesnt just disappear...so we always need help with that. I will end my rant by being thankful. I am thankful I have Jessica and Kassy to help me with the dogs. Also, Cody Cowan, Sarah Gibson McConnell, and Renea Cowan are my backbones for volunteering at Petsmart. Thank you. I am thankful for the $90 we received in donations at Petsmart on Saturday. I am thankful for Sandra Clark McKeehan and Mollie Clark Kelley for their contributions this week. I am thankful and happy that hopefully we will have an awesome adoption weekend coming up at Petsmart in Owensboro this upcoming weekend and Im thankful for the one life we were able to find a new loving home for this weekend. My prayer tonight is that Ive done the best I can this week and that everyone else may possibly consider if they are doing all they can for their charity of choice...oh and people, spay and neuter your pets. End of rant.
