Beguiled . . . While attending a special service with a friend - TopicsExpress

Beguiled . . . While attending a special service with a friend earlier today, I heard a scripture read, that caused me to sit up, and take notice. It was from the book of Genesis; a slightly different translation than what many of us have often used. It said that Eve, was tricked. My old way of thinking about things, was instantly changed. Im not sure, if we even searched out this word before; as usual, we are often quick, to just put blame on some people; without studying things out for ourselves. It felt I had to re-evaluate. The word beguile = to mislead by guile or deceit, or to deceive. The word guile = crafty, deceitful talk or conduct; cunning. The Word says, that the serpent was subtle, which means crafty, artful and sly. As I read this story again, I saw something that impacted me even more; perhaps I had read it or seen it several times over the years, but today, it spoke more clearly. He told Eve, ye shall be as gods. He went on to say, that they wouldnt die; they would know good and evil. In this hour, men want to be gods; they want power, control and they want others always bowing down to them. I went back and read something the Apostle had said. We are not ignorant of Satans devices. But I think, we need to back up a few verses, and look at what he was talking about when he said that. He was talking about us forgiving someone who had made a mistake. It appears, that the person he was talking about, was almost overcome with grief over what they had done. The apostle told the other church folk in his letter, to comfort that person; to accept their request for forgiveness, and to forgive them. I truly do believe, in my own language, that the man of God was saying, if we let this person be too overcome with grief and sorrow, we are going to lose them; perhaps for good. He said, we know, how tricky Satan can be. It made me think of one particular comment, that most of us have heard at some point and time in our life. You should try it; one time wont hurt you. Everybody else is doing it. Subtle; to say the least, its crafty, deceitful talk; its cunning conduct. Just let me say it, in the fear of the Lord. The devil, tricked some people. Yes, we all have our own kind of weaknesses, but I have to say, many people, did not just intentionally mess their life up. They did not start out to be evil and destroy others lives. Someone here said it recently; evil, is often very beautiful, and desirable. Satan, is not some ugly imp with horns and a pitch fork. He was once a majestic angelic creature of great beauty; and he can still appear that way. Sin, is so often, pleasurable. We can be tricked into thinking, we have to keep up with the Joneses. And our ministers, can be duped and mislead, in to believing they must be like their peers. The enemy, is not beyond, whispering in anybodys ear; no matter who they are or what their station is. This prosperity gospel, is very cunning; a great deal of people fall for messages from men and women, that are very crafty; quite artful. The old artful one, tempted even our Lord; remember everything he offered Jesus. We must remain alert and must be watchful, at all times; there are even those, who lie in wait, to deceive. We are not giving honor to the wicked one; were just not being ignorant. If he sneaked up on us once, hell try again. But in the Spirit, we always see him.
