Behavioral Respite Consultants Branch Location: 210 North Citrus Ave. Covina, CA 91723 (626) 209-8498 Employment Opportunities in the following areas: Rialto, Fontana, Apple Valley, and Ontario Company Description: Behavior Respite in Action, Inc. (BRIA) established in 1997, provides educationally based behavioral intervention to children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder or various other developmental disabilities. At present, BRIA provides services to the consumers of eight (8) Southern California area Regional Centers. Services are provided in a one-on-one setting, either in the home, school, or elsewhere in the community depending on the specific needs of the individual child. Each individuals curriculum is designed to enhance both the families and the childs quality of life as well as address the specific behavioral deficits, excesses, and other delays the child may exhibit. Some of the skill areas typically targeted include the pre-academic domain, general academic skills, attention, compliance, self help skills, social language communication (both receptive communication and expressive communication), and other various social and play skills. The unique combination skill areas targeted will be determined by the functioning level of the child. For the lower functioning child, the curriculum will be focused on fundamental skills such as attention, compliance, imitation, and general self help. For the higher functioning child, the curriculum will provide novel opportunities to generalize social skills and theory of mind. Progress on each case is monitored by an assigned clinical team consisting of one or more instructors, the Program Coordinator, and a member of our Senior Clinical Team. Position Description: Instructors provide in home one to one behavioral respite to children with special needs. Positions are available for students who are interested in working with children with special needs. Applicants should either have experience working with children in a professional capacity or be pursuing a degree in Psychology, Education, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field. Workshops covering the specific intervention modalities utilized are available free of charge. Topics covered during the workshops include basic Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and Non Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI). CPI is a respectful, noninvasive method to use in defusing escalating behavior and safely managing physically aggressive behavior. Participants learn proven strategies for preventing and resolving situations when confronted by anxious, hostile, or violent behavior. Throughout the course of employment, instructors receive one to one supervision and guidance from a member of our clinical team and have access to further learning opportunities and professional development. Reliable transportation and valid car insurance is a must as this position requires visiting clients homes. Prospective staff must pass a Background Check/Live Scan and have current CPR and first aid training. Location: Rialto, Fontana, Apple Valley Compensation: Position pays $10-$14 an hour depending on experience
