Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a Son, and shall call - TopicsExpress

Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. (Isa. 7:14.) In a manger on the hay, There, incarnate God, once lay: From the Fathers throne He came To a world all sunk in shame; Came a babe of virgin born, Came from heaven of glory shorn, Came with swaddling clothes wrapped round, Came with limitations bound. In a manger on the hay Christ, the Savior, sweetly lay; Took He flesh and blood, to die That the sinner might draw nigh; Came to open wide the door, Came the wandrer to restore; Came, that all might enter in Blood-washed, saved from evry sin. GOD with us! How the word causes us to marvel. Incarnate God: God manifest in flesh. God dwelling with us: And we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. Think of the WORD being made flesh and dwelling among us! Think of the eternal Son being found in fashion as a man, and humbling Himself, and becoming obedient unto death, even the death of the cross! All of this He did because He loved us so; all of this, because He would redeem unto Himself a people. Behold God in a manger of hay! God mid the cattle! As He lay there on that day, His surroundings seemed to bespeak the full story of His earth life: His eating and drinking with sinners; the Holy, tabernacling with the unholy; the Master, mingling with the slave; the Mighty, walking with the weak. In a manger on the hay, Babe, yet destined King, He lay; Wise men guided by a star, Came from other lands, afar, Worshipped Him, King of the Jews, While His own did Him refuse; Soon Hell come to earth again, Come, as King of kings, to reign.
