Being Italian has its advantages and disadvantages. One of the huge disadvantages if you are Italian and you live in Tallinn is that your embassy is worth less than zero. I have heard that probably, with expense cuts that will take place in next government budget, this embassy might be soon closed. I would say: we will not notice the difference. Except the usefulness of releasing documents (ID card, passport etc.) and the good work of one of their employees who has proven to be very helpful in several occasions and I will never thank enough, all the rest is to be forgotten, from the ambassador till the rest. Our embassy ( low-case e is wilful!) is not proud of what me and other country fellows do in this country as private enterprise. However, they have been ready to spend their name for an almost-convict who has fleed the country to come here and seize a role in a cultural institution with the aim of using for his private purposes. On the contrary, no voice and visibility is given to those who do it on their expenses and without trying to put somebodys else logos on it to boost importance. Only one word: SHAME. Shame because for ones fault, we all have to pay the price. One person there was doing something on his initiative and his expenses, Tony Pedivellano. Unfortunately he left, sent to Australia, like a convict. He put together a team of expats for the Diplomat Cup and I can proudly say that stuff like Tere Italia and Rumori di Spogliatoio have come from there, as Fausto Di Nella knows very well. Grazie Tony! I praise diplomats like Victor Guzun ( Embassy of Moldova to Estonia ) who represents Moldova at all levels: sport, culture, defense etc. and travels around and spends time with people. I was glad to represent his country in the Diplomat Cup and I would happily get the Moldovan citizen if he would offer me, hai Moldova! We shall learn a lot from the small European countries, who have the enthusiasm we have lost. But unfortunately its all our system that is wrong, the embassy is just a good reflection of how rotten our country is.
