Being Witnesses In Acts 1:8, Jesus tells his disciples that - TopicsExpress

Being Witnesses In Acts 1:8, Jesus tells his disciples that they will receive power and, as a result, will be his witnesses throughout the world. I wonder if the reason we don’t see more Christians (including myself – not throwing stones here) witnessing is because we haven’t first received the power. I think that perhaps we need to be reminded that the power of God is most practically and, in many ways, visibly seen in life change. When we surrender ourselves to God completely we find complete transformation. As Paul says in 2 Corinthians, the old has passed away and all has become new (see 5:17). If that has happened to us and we are continually reminded of it so that our memory is fresh, we will then have a message of witness to share. But, if we are not reminded and the memory grows cold, it will become harder for us to share because we will begin to believe we have nothing worth sharing. Another possible reason for not witnessing is even more terrifying. Could it be that the lack of witness is because many “Christians” have never had an encounter with the God who initiated the statement about witnessing?
