Being excellent in studies is not bad - but a certain kind of stupidity enters into you. You lose touch with reality. All these university toppers when I see them, I feel sympathy for them and compassion for them. Dont feel proud that your child is excellent in studies. Being talented in studies is one of the sickness Indian kids suffer with. I am not saying education is bad. Thinking education is the ONLY solution in life is bad. Kids who are educated only in schools and colleges are the most uneducated people in the world. They stop learning from life. They are class start. But not street smart. Dont ever feel proud if your child is talented and excellent in studies. See if he emotionally capable, intellectually able to make decisions and spiritually able to handle life. That is what is important. The present education only prepares kids for the exploiting lifestyle. I am not going to bring up my Gurukul kids that way. Living Advaita Process, Bidadi 1 November 2014
