Being from Aberdare but living in Brecon I sometimes hear mocking comments about the Valleys. The area actually has a lot to offer as this video of Aberdare Park shows. The circular road around the park is a mile long and the park, which is typically Victorian with its fountain and decorative iron gates is well maintained. Its manmade landscape at its best. There is a modern childrens playground, a large pond with geese and carp(!), Gorsedd stones from the 1956 Eisteddfod, a rose garden, a bandstand, a cafe (seasonal), rowing and paddle boats, the list goes on. I would recommend Aberdare Park for a day out, and not just for kids
