Being that this is the last day of 2014, I wanted to say thank you - TopicsExpress

Being that this is the last day of 2014, I wanted to say thank you to anyone and everyone who has taken the time to do something kind, generous and unselfish for someone else. Earthly life is short and the older I get the more I realize how precious each moment is. My Grandfather, Al Haddad used to say, “It’s not WHAT you eat... but WHO you eat it with”. I find that to be truer each day. This past year has been a profound year, to say the least. Many wonderful things have happened as well as some significant tragedies. Seems you can’t have one without the other. My Wife, my Daughter and I are lucky enough to be surrounded by a loving family and caring friends who would do anything for us and we would do anything for them....and we couldnt ask for anything more. People talk about “resolutions” and ask me if I have made one or if I plan on making one this year... I think this year my resolution (or promise to myself) is to listen to MYSELF more often. If that sounds narcissistic, I apologize... it isnt meant to be. What I mean by that is I truly believe that we all have the knowledge of the universe already within us and we know the difference between “right” and “wrong”. I think we get too caught up in the ads we see on TV, the nonsense we hear on the radio and the inane grumblings that we read and post on Facebook, that we drown out that inner voice... that oh so precious thing that whispers guidance into our ears and shows us the way. Trouble is you need to quiet the spirit to hear that voice sometimes ...and sometimes that can be difficult. That is my resolution... to quiet my spirit more often and listen to what my inner voice is saying. I look back on this past year and I have learned many lessons. I think the first step in learning is to humble oneself and admit that you don’t have all the answers and that you actually have something (many things) to learn. I think it was Socrates who said, “The one thing I know is that I know nothing at all”. It has been my observation, that there are things larger than us...things that we cannot comprehend and things that we cannot quantify. This upcoming year, I resolve to communicate with those things and hear what they have to say. Happy New Year!
