Beirut, 3 November /MCN/ At the conclusion of the Christian Levantine Conference, held at a hotel in Beiruts Sin el-Fil, Lebanese MP Michel Aoun, head of the Change and Reform Bloc, said today, Maintaining the security of Christians in the East is the responsibility of all regimes. Aoun added that the change and reform are the bases of political work to build a strong state, while the mud in which our societies have fumbled allowed the growth of takfirist fundamentalism. What we want to discuss today is not only how to live safely, but what the Christian role is, added Aoun who explained that our societies suffer from Salafist movements that want to take the region back to bygone eras. Maria Saadeh, Syrian MP, said the attempt to evacuate the East of Christians means the eradication of Christians in the world, because the East is the custodian of Christians. She added that the goal of the war in Syria is to complete the eradication of Christians, and called for an end to the emigration of Christians. Saadeh blamed the international community and major states for what is happening in Syria, and the war that is taking place against the people in the name of freedom and democracy.
