Belizeans and true friends of Belize, There is a rule of thumb - TopicsExpress

Belizeans and true friends of Belize, There is a rule of thumb concerning matters of national significance. Irrespective of the apparent dormancy of issues associated with it, do NOT allow the lull to relax your vigilance! I bring to the fore, a subtle reminder concerning a matter that I believe holds considerable significance regarding: (1) Guatemalas unfounded claim to our sovereign territory, (2) the GOBs lamentable approach of - appeasement, acquiescence and adherence to anything the Guatemalans demand via their surrogate...the OAS and (3) maintaining our nations territorial integrity. Simply put, let us not forget that the OAS shall elect a new Secretary General early next year and one of the persons rumoured aspirants for the post is non other than former Guatemalan Vice President, Dr. Eduardo Stein. If you dont know who he is, I suggest you conduct a quick, Google Search. Lets just say that he, more than likely, shares the view of former Guatemalan President Efrian Rios Montt, who was convicted of crimes against humanity, but the Guatemalan Constitutional Court overturned his conviction. This was due, in part, no doubt to the efforts of people such as Stein, whose efforts to absolve Rios Montt, are public knowledge. With that, let us not lose sight of what implications Dr. Steins potential candidacy for the post of OAS Secretary General, might hold. Remember, just because something is not dominating the news headlines, it doesnt mean that major moves are not being undertaken in the corridors of influence, both up north and to the west of our nation. I believe that shortly before the end of the year, if not beginning in January 2015, we shall begin to hear the nonsensical rhetoric emanating from Belmopan, which is indicative of the contempt these politicians hold for the sensibilities of the Belizean people. Bearing this in mind, I take this opportunity to submit that a BOYCOTT of the impending referendum is the most prudent approach, for once we do not participate, it reduces the possibility of electoral fraud by the powers that be. In that regard, I refer to pure numbers. Non participation shall neglect the authorities to claim numbers large enough to validate the referendum. After all, the PUDP appear to have taken an overtly bipartisan approach to the matter and we know just how sinister each of them have proven separately, albeit we are aware that such is always for the fundamental goal of influencing public perception aka keeping the electorate under their spell. In short, do NOT allow yourselves to be hoodwinked. Guatemala reneged on its obligation to go through with the referendum at the appointed time and was not held accountable. Our facilitation of and participation in the rescheduled referendum will only serve to further the GOBs lame and spineless approach to dealing with this matter. Therefore, as always, I implore you to remain attuned and sleep wid yu own eye. Belize, Sovereign and Free - NO ICJ!
