Below is a very nice letter Massachusetts State Director, Jayson Newell, received after Mass. BAA member Kimberly Shaw played "Taps" for them. ************* "Good evening Mr. Newell (Jayson) and Ms. Shaw (Kimberly) Please accept my apology for not writing to you both sooner. Please also accept my sincerest THANK YOU for providing such a wonderful send off for a true patriot! We had made a point of keeping the family in the dark as to what we were planning for the ceremony. When they saw the piper they were surprised but when Kimberly arrived they were truly impressed. Jayson, I know you must get these accolades all the time whenever Kimberly volunteers to play TAPS for a veteran. Her uniform was outstanding and very professional to say the least. As a former Air Policeman in the USAF I am most familiar with “parade presence”. That is having your uniform so sharp you could pass in review for the President at any moment. So, when I tell you that her uniform was exemplary you can take it to the bank!! Her demeanor and attitude was one of total respect for the family and all those in attendance. She was respectfully quiet and only asked where she should stand to play. When the service was over she accepted our accolades with a demur smile and quiet “thank you”. Speaking of the service; Kimberly’s rendition of TAPS was right on the mark. Again, relating back to my USAF career and hearing TAPS played many, many times during “retreat” I can honestly say I have never heard it played better. Just the right “voice” for the small cemetery. .............. In closing I just want you both to know how wonderful this whole experience has been. I have been telling folks around the country about your organization and how much we appreciated Kimberly’s volunteering to give “honors” to our leader, our mentor, our friend!!! THANK YOU AGAIN, Kimberly!!!! Sincerest regards, Joe McNeil ~ K1HFD Captain, Harwich Fire Department (Retired) President, APCO International ~ 1998 "
