Ben Afflecks Heart Is with Dallas Buyers Club at the Oscars Two-time Oscar winner Ben Affleck hates to make predictions on who will win at the Oscars, but he does admit that hes partial to one particular film. Well, my heart is with Dallas Buyers Club because my wife is great in the movie. Jared [Leto] and Matthew [McConaughey] are great, Affleck, whose wife is actress Jennifer Garner, revealed on Fridays Live with Kelly and Michael. Its this little movie that could. And its a really important issue...so to me thats my personal, emotional favorite. Affleck, who says he thinks all of this years best picture nominees are amazing, says its unfortunate that only one film wins the top prize at the end of the night. Its exciting and its a way at celebrating movies but it is also a little bit of a shame that it comes down to one has to be, Oh, youre the winner, said Affleck. Its not like you die and go to heaven and God says, Nope! Godfather 1 was better than Godfather 2. Affleck knows about that excitement. He was in his early 20s in 1998, when he and longtime friend Matt Damon shared the best original screenplay Oscar for Good Will Hunting. When Afflecks Argo, which he directed and in which he starred, won best picture last year, he said the years had enabled him to better appreciate it. Really, youre not able to, as Matt said, sort of take it in at that age, Affleck said. I was 24 or something like that. Most kids were just getting out of college, and trying to figure out what to do. And so it was almost too much. Fifteen years later I had had ups, I had had downs. I had perspective on...life, a career, something that you build, that involves like getting kicked around, having to pick yourself back up, how do you handle victory, how do you be graceful.
