Benjamin’s Journey January 27, 2015 Day 43 Benjamin had - TopicsExpress

Benjamin’s Journey January 27, 2015 Day 43 Benjamin had another good day today as his trachea was finally taken out! Next to be removed is his feeding tube, which is not being used as of last night for feedings but more so his medications now. We are so excited that all of the tubes and life support items are being removed and Benj is sustaining himself as it relates to food and breathing on his own. God is good and we are so grateful that our prayers are being answered. As many of you know, we applied last week for financial assistance through Shepherd Rehabilitation Center in Atlanta. Unfortunately, our request was declined as Shepherd only looks at their applicant’s income and not the total debt to income information. Of course we are disappointed [again], however we have been reaching out to anyone and everyone that we know to see if they know anyone who would be willing to help us pay for Shepherd, which will cost approximately $67,000 which is $2420 a day for the additional 30 days that Benjamin needs that our insurance company will not cover. Today, we reached out to The Tug McGraw Foundation, which focuses on providing support and resources for individuals affected by Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). A friend of ours is also reaching out to a foundation created by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill called Neighbor’s Keeper which also helps people within the community that need assistance. We have also reached out to WSMV [Channel 4] to see if they would be interested in helping us get the word out that we are looking for financial assistance to get Benjamin to Shepherd, as a follow up to their original story that they aired back in December, shortly after the wreck. We are grateful for all of your continued prayers and support. We also know that God’s Got This and when God feels Benj is ready to head to Shepherd, he will! God’s Got This!
