Benson update: Spoke with Dr. Adams, they are very pleased with his progress so far. Granulation tissue is starting to generate and grow, and some of the pus and liquid oozing has slowed down or stopped. He is resting and eating well. His blood work came back and was pretty much what they expected to see considering his condition, high white blood cell count, red cell count was good, no red flags on any of the major organs that would have indicated other health issues, i.e. liver, kidneys, etc. Staying quiet with limited activity is needed as when he is up and about he walks with a bounce in his step and tries to hop around. The skin on his shoulders, near the two deepest wounds, is loose and fragile so it is not good for him to be very active right now, until that area stabilizes more. These wounds will be open for a while to ensure that healing begins from the inside, eventually these will probably be stitched closed, but for now, wound care and infection prevention is best handled with these remaining open. So far there is no indication that any internal organ, stomach, liver, etc. was nicked or punctured, but that is always a danger with the type of injuries he sustained. His temperature is normal and his stool and urine are clear and clean. Please continue sending your thoughts and prayers for this wonderful guy, hopefully he can get out for a few days over the weekend. Susan
