Benue 2015: We must produce the next governor or we wont vote -Idoma warns The Idoma nation has sent strong warning to their fellow brothers and sisters of the Tiv extraction to stop the inherent domination of political space of Benue State but to allow the coveted seat move to Idoma area in 2015. The president of Idoma National Forum (INF), Dr Okopi Alex Momoh, stated this at the weekend, in Otukpo, the trado-political seat of Idomaland during the maiden edition of a memorial lecture of the first paramount ruler of Doma nation, HRH Ogiri Oko, Ochidoma 1, Dr Momoh, who berated the Tiv brothers for using numerical strength to dominate the state’s political space, warned that the nation might be forced to boycott 2015 governorship election if the nation was not considered. The president explained that since the creation of the state in 1976 and subsequent political dispensations, the two senatorial districts had continually been recycling the governorship slot within themselves without considering other tribes, particularly the Idoma nation. He noted that the state must embrace the concept of balanced governance and create a sense of belonging for everybody as enshrined in the constitution, stressing that other states had embraced this concept. According to him, “some multi-tribal states in the country such as Akwa Ibom and Cross River states are adopting rotation of the governorship position on senatorial basis. “We expect same to happen in Benue State starting from the 2015 governorship election by allowing the Benue South senatorial district to produce the governor of the state in 2015.” “If we do not get the concession on rotation, we will not participate in the governorship election in 2015,” he said.
