Benue APC Primaries: 5 Guber Aspirants Reject Ortom The battle for who becomes the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State yesterday sparked fresh crisis, with the five governorship aspirants of the party rejecting Chief Samuel Ortom as the consensus candidate, saying the primaries have not been conducted to elect a candidate. This was coming few hours after the leader of the party in the state, Sen George Akume reportedly forwarded Ortom who has just decamped from the PDP as the consensus candidate for the party. The former minister of state for industry, trade and investment, Chief Ortom had lost the PDP primaries ticket and quickly picked the APC nomination form. It was gathered reliably that after a crucial meeting between the APC governorship aspirants with the stakeholders of the opposition yesterday in Makurdi, both Akume and others nominated Ortom for the slot. However, this outcome did not go well with the five aspirants contesting for the position, including Emmanuel Jime, Mike Iordye, Akange Audu, Sen Joseph Waku and Prof Steve Ugbah who issued a press statement against it yesterday in Makurdi.
