Bert Hughes pack train stands in front of Andy Rices cabin at the Civilian Conservation Corps Black Bear Camp at Headquarters in September of 1935. My father came to Idaho from Pekin, Illinois to be in the 3 c s, as it was called when he was young in the depression. He worked on building the Greer Grade. My mom worked at the little bar that still stands in Greer, they met, married, & 4 little Farrow kids came to be! He never could afford to go back to see his family until we all went back to bring a school bus to Orofino. He had not been home in 19 years.we were all born by then & met his family for first time. Quite a trip for us, we didnt even own a car until after I was in high school.
