Best wishes for a happy and safe holiday season from your car audio club! Thanks to our Members who support the club and contests and events around the world! The 2015 Rule Book will be posted asap, before the 1st of January, if all goes as planned. A link will be posted on the home page. For Sound Quality League competitors, the program is the same, and we are clarifying the rules and permitted and non-permiited sections. A change or 2 for Modified Street will be added, but nothing that should change any system currently competing in that class. For SPL competitors, our program with fusing representing the power component of our Pressure Class Formula will remain in place. We will review this for 2016 and consider replacing the fuse method with a power clamping method, using DC current measured by the clamp, We are looking at the new TermLab for reliability and standardization and will begin evaluation for our contests when it is available. Once we are certain that we have a protocol and procedures dialed in for fair and safe contests, we will announce plans for 2016. Look for this before 2015 Finals. The 3 basic changes for the Sound Pressure League for 2015 are: - Amateur Street classes will not be offered at Finals. Amateur Street competitors are eligible for State Championships in each class. Any Amateur Street competitor who wants to compete at Finals will be permitted to that, in the appropriate Street class and with 40 qualifying points as required for all members. - Street 5 will allow no-wall builds to the b-pillars, which includes CRXs and 2-seat vehicles. -Dueling Demos will have a basic class, Stock, intended for smaller, SQL type of systems We have very fair, time-tested programs and contests for our members. We are watching the participation numbers in all classes to see what works, and what isnt working so well. There are many more good people now who get what we do, than in MECA history, helping to refine our contests and being part of the evolution of car audio sports. 2015 looks to be our best year ever, for many reasons, and the Rule Book is one of them. Car audio is having a resurgence in interest and that is evident by the activity in the lanes, and the business world of the 12-Volt Industry. This aint the good ole days, and well never have that again. But, we are part of something new and exciting, and as car audio melds with computers and media and content issues, MECA will continue to have fair and fun contests, Thats what were about. If you have any questions: spl@mecacaraudio sql@mecacaraudio Happy Holidays!
