Bestselling author Jasper Fforde joins the line-up for Winchester Writers’ Conference Wordsmiths from around the globe are descending on the University of Winchester later this month (21-23 June) to attend the 33rd Winchester Writers’ Conference, Festival and Bookfair. Amongst the impressive literary line-up will not only be the creators of Downton Abbey, Lord Fellowes with his wife Lady Emma Fellowes, but author Jasper Fforde, best known for his novels featuring the popular literary detective, heroine Thursday Next. His first book The Eyre Affair was an instant hit, entering the New York bestseller list in its first week of publication. Since then he has published 10 more books in the fantasy/comedy genre, many of them bestsellers and counts his sales in the millions. Prior to writing he spent 20 years working in the film industry on such movies as Goldeneye, The Mask of Zorro and Entrapment. As well as providing a full-day masters’ course on 21 June titled The ‘Longview’ Approach to Writing, Jasper is giving one-to-one appointments to aspiring writers and carrying out book signings on 22 June. He has also expressed an interest in giving a short reading of his work at the Lollapalooza Poetry and Prose Performance Evening on 21 June which is open to the public and free of charge. The Winchester Writers’ Conference is followed by two days of in-depth writing workshops specialising in writing for children and creating, editing, revising and marketing your novel. Places are still available for these small supportive sessions.
